Research Group on Polymer Degradation and Stabilization

Research Group on Polymer Degradation and Stabilization

Activity
This research group was established in 1985 as a community or forum for scientists and engineers who were interested in degradation and stabilization of natural and synthetic polymer materials. Since then, this research group has been contributing to develop new chemistry and technology on polymer degradation and stabilization.

Many types of polymers have been commonly used in many areas. However, most of them can not be used without stabilization techniques. understanding of polymer degradation and stabilization can be greatly contribute to develop new highly stable polymers as well as more effective stabilization technologies. Subjects of this research group include (1) development of new stabilizers and stabilization technologies,
(2) mechanistic study of polymer degradation, (3) estimation of lifetime of polymers,
(4) functionalization of polymers using degradation, and so on.

This research group holds four events in a year: 2 workshops on selected topics, two-day tutorial seminar for freshmen and beginners in industries, one-day conference on polymer degradation and stabilization.
