Polymer Dynamics Research: Present and Perspective
Polymer physics is a fundamental, important scientific field consisting of two parts: structural research and molecular dynamics investigation of polymeric materials, which both have always been supplemental partners to each other. Polymer physics has been making great efforts to understand essential mechanisms for outstanding (and sometimes quite curious) physical properties of polymeric materials. In this special issue, we focus on polymer dynamics investigations that study molecular motions of polymer molecules observed in enormously wide ranges of time and space evoked by their huge molecular sizes. Some outstanding researchers in this field present their concepts with actual hot topics, and other researchers introduce great technical achievements for dynamic investigations of polymers using new and powerful irradiation sources, such as coherent X-ray beams generated in SPring-8 and strong neutron beams by a high intensity proton accelerator in J-PARC.
