Chirality in the Macromolecules
Argumenting about the origin of life, one of the most disputed questions is the origin of molecular homochirality. Therefore, chirality is one of the most challengeable research subjects in chemistry. The chemists engaged in chirality are often excited by finding out some factors, which are capable of explaining some aspects of homochirality related to the origin of organic molecules. In recent times, the studies of chirality in polymer science exhibited a remarkable progress producing a novel insight that specially controlled physical conditions can develop molecular chirality without any assistance of chiral molecules such as chiral catalysts. In addition, some inorganic materials, including inorganic polymers and metallic crystalline surface with topologically controlled chirality, also gave us a new understanding in the field of non-molecular chirality. In this edition, we highlight chiral topics from active chemists with different views on chirality.
