The "Award for the Outstanding Paper" published in the Polymer Journal was established by the Society of Polymer Science, Japan (SPSJ) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its foundation for the purpose of encouragement of research by younger scientists in the field of polymer science.
This award is given to the first author of a paper which was published in any issue of the Polymer Journal (No. 1-12) in the preceding year and should recognize the quality of the contents, regardless of the origin of the author. The nominee must not have passed his or her 38th birthday at the time when the paper was submitted to the Polymer Journal.
The number of the awards shall be limited to three per year.

- This Award is established by the Society of Polymer Science, Japan(SPSJ) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its foundation. The Purpose of the Award is to encourage research by younger scientists in the field of polymer science.

- The administration of this award shall be in accordance with the following principles.
- [Rules of Eligibility]

- This award is given to the first author of a paper which was published in any issue of the Polymer Journal(No.1-12) in the preceding year and should recognize the quality of the contents, regardless of the origin of the author. The nominee must not have passed his or her 38th birthday at the time when the paper was submitted to the Polymer Journal.

- The Award consists of a certificate, a medal, and a supplementary prize. The number of the awards shall be limited to three per year.
- [Nomination of the Candidates]

- To nominate a paper for the award the nominator is required to complete the Nomination Form(Forms 1 and 2) and submit it to the Editor-in-Chief, the Polymer Journal, by January 14th each year.

- The Editorial Board of the Polymer Journal shall recommend up to ten candidates and shall submit these nomination Forms by January 31st to the chairman of the SPSJ Award Committee.

- The SPSJ Award Committee shall select up to three recipients for the Award by the end of February

- The approval of the recipients of the Award shall be made by the Board of Directors of SPSJ

- The awards will be presented to each recipient at the award ceremony on the occasion of the SPSJ Annual Meeting

- [Supplementary Rule]
- (1)
- These regulations shall be in force after they have been approved by the Board of Directors of SPSJ.
