New Polymeric Materials to Replace Glass
In recent years, polymer materials with various functions have been developed on a large scale thanks to the progress of studies on applications. Borderlessness with other materials such as metal and ceramics enlarged the use of polymer materials further. The relationship between glass and polymer is one of such cases. Materials and the technical research and development, which combine both features of glass (e.g., transparency, heat resistance, dimensions stability) and features of polymer (e.g., unbreakable, lightness, flexibility), are actively pursued now. In this issue, we introduce the research and development about polymer materials and techniques with the functionality of glass.
