COVER STORY Polymers on the Green Planet: Trends in Biomass-Based Polymers |
Biomass polymers, which can be sustainably produced using renewable starting materials derived from natural plants and living organisms, are now one of the most attracting materials in polymer science and have increasingly been put to practical use in various fields. Such trend is caused not only by environmentally benign issues, such as global warming and depletion of petroleum resources, but also by their potential performance owing to natural compounds and possible low cost production as well as corporate image strategy. In this special issue, we will introduce the latest trends on state-of-the-art research and practical applications of new biomass polymers. Editors: K. SATOH, IKAWA, KAWAHARA, SAKAI, and SERIZAWA |
