COVER STORY Polymer Synthesis: Tradition, Yet Originality |
The precision synthesis of polymers with a variety of sequences and/or shapes is of intense interest even after substantial progress has been made by continually developing living/controlled polymerizations via various mechanisms. From a different perspective, such development is brought to fruition by the integration of ingenuity in designing polymer structures and/or catalysts, or analyzing a reaction using a new method with basic knowledge of organic/polymer chemistry that has been acquired over decades. The featured articles in this issue present the recent development of polymer synthesis that has been allowed by an excellent fusion of “basics of organic/polymer chemistry” and “something original”.
