COVER STORY
2D Materials for the Bright Future
Two-dimensional materials that consist of planarly arranged atoms and molecules have various interesting properties and functions that are different from those of ordinary bulk materials. Owing to such unique architecture, they are attracting attention in recent years for their use in electronics, photonics, soft materials, and energy devices. This special issue presents an overview of two-dimensional materials that have been synthesized using a variety of approaches and developed in different fields such as organic, inorganic, and polymeric materials. Recent advances in their synthetic methods and research into their unique properties and functions are introduced.
