COVER STORY Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFC) Today |
Although passenger cars equipped with polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs) have been already on the market, many issues remain such as catalysts and costs, etc. For the widespread use of PEFCs, it is desirable to develop high performance electrolyte membranes. In addition, the performance requirements for electrolyte membranes are becoming strict year by year for the development of fuel cells for heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs), trains, ships, and construction applications, which are expected to be in great demand in the future. Under these circumstances, polymer researchers with new ideas that go beyond existing concepts should join the fuel cell research field. Therefore, we have published a special issue to inform you about the current situation of PEFCs. Editors: YUSA, OTOZAWA, MICHINOBU, and YAMAGUCHI |
