COVER STORY Cutting-Edge of Precisely Designed Network Polymers |
It has been over 100 years since Baekeland invented phenolic resin. Nowadays, crosslinked polymers have become indispensable materials in our daily lives. The recent progress in this field has provided some advanced materials, including gels with both flexibility and toughness and network polymers with self-healing properties and excellent stress relaxation. These advanced functions are achieved by the controlled network structures constructed by precision synthesis. On the other hand, composite gels, in which natural polymers and additives are added to synthetic polymers, are attracting attention as a means of imparting new functions to crosslinked polymers. This special issue introduces the latest technological innovations in this field under the title of ‘Cutting-Edge of Precisely Designed Network Polymers’. Editors: KOHSAKA, ITO, TAKEDA, NOBUKAWA, and YUSA |
