COVER STORY
Shining Polymers Structured at the Surface and Interface
Interesting things happen at the boundary of different cultures and people. Communications at the boundary (kiwa in Japanese) has brought about the development of human beings. This issue has a focus on active and attractive polymer surfaces and interfaces. The topic has attracted much attention to understand practical issues such as adhesion and coating and sensor devices based on ion & charge transport as well as fundamentals of wetting and friction. With the development of molecular design and analytical tools on a nanometer scale, polymer surfaces and interfaces provide interesting features, i.e., active and attractive functions. This issue gives several examples of nanostructure control technologies, which are based on surface and interface engineering.
