COVER STORY
Significant Advances in Polymer Gels
Polymer gel, as a research subject of interdisciplinary science and technology based on chemistry, physics, biology, material science, and so forth, has attracted much attention. In particular, for the recent 10 years, it could be said that the research on gels is in the midst of an era of renaissance producing innovative gels with excellent mechanical performances like e.g. self-healing gels, ionic liquid gels and gels with meso-scale ordered structure. These progresses will greatly contribute to the application of gels as biomaterials, sensors, actuators, battery, micro-devices, etc. This special issue presents state-of-the-art information and a future perspective on polymer gel research.
