COVER STORY
New Development of Conjugated Polymers
Conjugated polymers having π electrons on the chain deserved much attention due to their interesting photo- / electronic / magnetic and other functions. Until now, a lot of new conjugated polymers were developed with a discovery of a conductive polymer in the past. Novel conjugated polymers still being developed energetically because they are expected to have the possibility of wide applications based on their unprecedented functions. Currently, we know that fine-controlled construction of the hierarchical and higher order structures of conjugated polymers is important for the advanced materials. As a recent trend, conjugate polymers organized by means of noncovalent binding interactions, so-called supramolecular polymers with a π electron system attract much attention. This special issue presents structures and functions of novel conjugated polymers including supramolecules, metal complexes, and carbon nanotubes.
