COVER STORY
World of Nano-Particles for Medical Innovation
With the accumulated knowledge in behavior of various materials in vivo, nano-particles have been attracting attention due to their ability to control bio-distribution of drugs or genes. Based on this nano-particle technologies, a new field, ‘nano-medicine’, that provides new therapeutic tools against intractable diseases, has been established. To create desired nano-particle, there are many factors have to be considered such as particle size, surface properties, targeting strategies against target cell or organ, and strategies regulating intra-cellular behavior. This special issue covers various designs and applications of such nano-particles for medical innovation. This feature is in collaboration with the polymer frontier program.
