COVER STORY Beginning and Future of Polymer Science |
Polymers are essential not only for high tech industries but also for our daily life. Nearly 100 years have passed since Prof. Staudinger proposed the concept of polymers, which are composed of really big molecules. Two Japanese scientists contributed to the proposal and the subsequent establishment of the concept through Prof. Staudinger's great research. Meanwhile, our country has greatly contributed to the development of polymer science and engineering. In this issue, we will look back at the times of proposing the concept of polymers and open a young researchers' round-table discussion about the future of polymers. It is a great pleasure to provide you with the opportunity for considering the importance of passing the baton of polymer science and engineering from the past to the future.
