COVER STORY How to Enhance the Sense Feeling and Texture of Polymer Products |
Polymer materials have a lot of excellent properties such as lightweightness, rustproofness, softness, hardness, chemical resistance, long-life, etc. On the other hand, people sometimes consider plastic products looking and feeling cheap and they are often considered as fake materials. For example, in order to improve the sense feeling of automotive interior materials, the manufactures enhance the plastics properties such as the touch feeling, texture and cool-feeling like metal. In addition to this, the polymer is applied to the improvement of the texture or moisture feeling in foods, cosmetics, clothes and so on. In this issue, various studies on the relationship between the sense feeling and textures of polymers through the measurement and digitalization of various properties are introduced.
