COVER STORY
100th Anniversary of Macromolecular Theory Toward Next 100 Years
It had been common knowledge that “molecules whose molecular weights are more than 5,000 cannot exist” until Staudinger proved the existence of macromolecules or polymers about 100 years ago. Considering the wide utility of polymers as materials, the Staudinger’s achievement should be one of greatest discovery in science. Now that 100 years have passed since the Staudinger’s seminal paper, why not review the 100 years history of polymer to consider the next 100 years through this special issue?
