COVER STORY Polymer-Designing AI |
Creating new values by use of information technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), which has been in the limelight for winning the Go champion, is becoming popular in various fields, as shown in AI speakers and home appliances. This trend is not limited to products and robots that are open to the public, but is also found in many cases such as transportation, manufacturing, and design. In the field of materials design, high-efficiency design by use of small data as well as big data is being carried out, and it is expected that many new materials will be produced in the future. In this special issue, we introduce materials informatics technologies that produce materials that show remarkable performance in terms of chemical, physical, and mechanical properties, etc..
