COVER STORY
Frontier in Precision Polymerization
In the research field of synthetic polymers, precise control of structural parameters including molecular weight and its distribution, stereo-regularity, topology, and monomer sequences is one of the most important topics for controlling the higher-order structure and hence properties of polymeric materials. Such polymers with well-defined structures are known to play an important role not only in application as highly functional materials but also in fundamental studies on polymer physics. This special issue focuses on recently developed techniques of precision polymerization based on newly designed mechanism/reaction-field/catalyst, giving an overview in respect to the above-mentioned structural control.
