COVER STORY Turning Points in a Researchers Life |
Researchers find their major research path in many different
ways. While researchers continue researching a theme, they often encounter
unexpected discoveries or results that lead to a drastic change in the
direction of their research.Meeting researchers in a different research
group or attending an academic conference might also be a turning point
in one's life works. Others may have read a paper that strongly inspired
their future research. These key turning points can not only change an
individual's research direction, but also be a turning point for an entire
research field and opening up new fields of research. There is always
a great story behind each great discovery. In this issue, each contributing
researcher tells his/her individual story about people, papers, and discoveries
that have changed their research careers. This issue will provide an
important opportunity to think about these turning points and how they
have transformed polymer science.
