COVER STORY Talents of Polymer Science and Materials |
“Chemistry” is often called the “center of science”. Polymers will be or have already been the “center of materials”. Now, polymeric materials are widely used wherever we live, and the area is still rapidly expanding. Not only as consumer products but also as specialized materials for fields like
aerospace applications, polymers play key roles. However we have few systematic lecture programs to teach the whole variety of fields from the basics to application of polymeric materials. The basics of polymer materials research deserve greater attention especially in the field of industry, thus in the present edition we focus on the methodologies to go deeply into the basics of polymeric materials, leading to the practical knowledge which is useful for the professionals working not only in academic fields but also in industry. (Editors: SEKI, AKIYOSHI, SHIKATA, NOZAKI, and YAMAOKA) |
