Green Polymers: Polymers from Renewable Resources
In recent years, upon considering global warming and petroleum depletion issues, it has become important to establish a sustainable society based on renewable resources. In the polymer field, a variety of polymeric materials have been prepared from various renewable monomers, which include natural products extracted from plants, compounds obtained via chemical conversion or fermentation of natural resources, and carbon dioxide. However, competing food issues and life cycle assessment should be considered for a practical application of renewable polymers. This special issue covers the developments and applications of various polymers and polymeric materials based on renewable resources.
