COVER STORY Development and Application of Biopolymer Interfaces |
Advances in biotechnology have enabled the design of artificial biomolecules
for applications in engineering. In addition, recent technology enables
the combination of biomolecules with polymer surfaces to develop new
interface technology that preserve the native functions of the biomolecules.
This current issue features such developments of the science of biopolymer
interfaces containing proteins, lipids and polysaccharides. The advanced
applications of biopolymer interfaces in cell engineering, protein engineering
and diagnostics based on results from the functional
and structural analysis are described.
